Unique Improvements was shortlisted by the Social Value Portal, for a national social value award, in the category of Best Third Sector Project. This was for the work the team delivered on prostate cancer awareness for Black, African and Caribbean men in Leeds.
1 in 4 Black men will get prostate cancer during their lifetime, this is compared to 1 in 8 men of other ethnicities. Recognising this inequality we were awarded funding to raise awareness of prostate cancer with the specific group of Black, African and Caribbean men, focussing on prostate cancer risk, testing for prostate cancer and the importance of early detection.

The Greater Manchester Cancer Screening and Engagement Programme is running a series of Stakeholder Events in June.
This new programme has been commissioned by Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership. Its aim is to deliver a community sector-led approach to improve the uptake of cancer screening programmes and reduce the incidence of cancers. It will achieve this by engaging, mobilising and working with local communities. As part of this work, we are inviting local stakeholders to attend sessions that are relevant to their role and interests.
The RCC Board wishes to acknowledge the achievements of those projects who have worked over the last 4+ years. To do this the next Change Champions Network event will be reshaped to include an awards ceremony. The awards will be taken from the case studies in the report and the winners will be chosen by a small panel of RCC Board members.
